New Ginga Maru was launched
On December 12, the new Ginga Maru was launched at Chiba
Shipyard,Mitsui Engineering & shipping Co. Ltd in the presence
of Crown prince.[2003/12/12]
The 2nd "Shipping guidance" held in Hokuto Maru.
The 2nd shipping guidance for the 1st grade cadets of
Kobe University of Mercantile Marine was held at Hokuto Maru

out on ocean voyage.
On June 6, Sailing Ship Nippon Maru left Kobe for Honolulu.
She calls at San Fransisco, Honolulu and is due back Tokyo

Kaiwo Maru was whistling in the Pacific ocean.
Kaiwo Maru sailing to Honolulu had sailed 1,492 miles in 124
hours (Average Speed was 12.03 knots) between January 16 and
21.
1,394 miles (average speed was 11.2 knots) recorded by Kaiwo
Maru was the best record of the Boston Tea Pot Trophy.[2003/1/24]
Hokuto Maru and Taisei Maru sailed
out into the South Hemisphere.
On January 22, two turbine engine ships Hokuto Maru and Taisei
Maru sailed out into New Zealand and Australia. Hokuto Maru calls
at Wellington, New Zealand and Brisbane in Australia, and Taisei
Maru
calls at
Lyttelton, New Zealand and Sydney in Australia.
They are due back Tokyo on early March. (Hokuto

Sailing Ship Kaiwo Maru sailed out
into Honolulu.
On January 10, Sailing Ship Kaiwo Maru left Yokohama
for Honolulu. She calls at Honolulu on February
5

English Assistant Adviser came to
Japan.
On January 6, two American Cadets from California
Maritime Academy (CMA) came to Japan to get on board the training
ships as English Assistant Advisers. [2003/1/15]
New year's trainings were started.
On January 5, Cadets embarked on each the training ship
and they started the new year's trainings. [2003/1/6]
Site Design was renewed.
